Take a stand against censorship by reading the titles and bits of words from banned books. Contribute to the recording between now and May 1st to be included in the August opening. Neighborhood recording sessions in Chicago and Cleveland will be posted soon. Inventory of Lost Books

Did you know that nearly 4,000 books have been banned in school districts throughout the United States since 2024? And that marginalized voices are suppressed by banning books that reflect diverse experiences? Would like to help raise awareness about banned books and motivate others to take action?

Conceived and created by Ohio-based book artist, Amanda Love, and NON:op sound artist, Christophe Preissing, Inventory of Lost Books is a series of 4 installations connected via a historical narrative about book suppression and a possible future. The participatory installation will take place in the Chicago area (parts 1-3) and the Cleveland Public Library (part 4) from August through spring 2027.
